I would like to hear from you whats your definition of leadership?
And what aspirations do you have or had (For ex-Ps/VPs) for SIFE.
This is a great place for us to start, as it will define our approach in influencing the people around us. :)
You will also potentially observe the evolution or change in aspirations each P/VPs, have for SIFE, due to its age and phase of growth. :)
Leadership is defined as the ability to influence.
ReplyDeleteTherefore, since everyone somehow or rather have an influence over another, every individual would be a leader by default.
Nevertheless, in my humble opinion, a leader has to create "real positive impact" in the lives of everyone around him, otherwise there will be no real benefit to society.
However, I define "real positive impact" not only as the multitude of lives touched, but the quality and retention of that influence. That is to say no matter is it one or many lives we have an influence over, it is crucial that we make such influences of "real positive impact".
My aspiration for SIFE, is to create a society of leaders with sincere and fervent purpose, passion and initiative to create/discover change in every aspect of their life. That is to say, he/she has to be passionate about making a real impact in the lives of people around them and be a change-maker wherever they are.
Some key leadership values I uphold:
ReplyDelete1. Service leadership
a. Others before self
b. Recognize the efforts of your followers
c. Be proactive in motivating and praising them
d. Listen to their needs and serve them
e. Be proactive in providing guidance
f. When your followers make mistakes, correct them lovingly
2. Expect of yourself much more than what you expect of others
- Do not stress others to achieve what you yourself is unable to achieve
3. Hold integrity with highest regard
4. Situational leadership
- Know when and where to use what approach of leadership so to suit environmental factors
5. Find purpose in everything you do
6. Know yourself
